Ardee Tennis Club

New Members Always Welcome

Welcome to Ardee Tennis Club

Ardee Tennis Club is a growing tennis club and has come a long way since its creation in 1995. Members originally played their tennis on tarmacadem. Since then members have successfully fund-raised for all-weather lighting and four new Savannah courts. Playing possibilites are many and varied at our club. We organise regular tennis events and host several set-piece club competitions for both our Adult and Junior members. New members are always welcome.

Adult Members

Adult members enjoy regular tennis through our Friday Night Tennis event and the ongoing Mens Singles Ladder competition. Friday Night Tennis is an event where we hold a mixed doubles club night and playing partners are randomly assigned. This event is a great way to meet other members and is suitable for both beginners and advanced players alike. Men (and now women) challenge each other on our Mens Singles Ladder. This ongoing competition promotes singles competition and helps the club to organise player seeding for the main club competitions.

The club hosts several set-piece competitions for Adult members throughout the year.
In early Spring we hold the Spring League. This is a doubles league and allows members to run off all that turkey and ham consumed over the Christmas period. In late Spring we hold the
Brophy-McDonnell Cup for mixed doubles. This tournament is to honour two of our club's main founding members, Garrett Brophy and Derek McDonnell. In Summer we hold the Club Championship for Adult, Student and Juvenile members. This is the most important competition of the year and offers singles, doubles and mixed doubles events. In Winter we hold a popular and fun mixed doubles Winter League. We hope this event goes a long way in helping members cope with the winter blues.

Junior Members

The main event every year for Junior members is the Summer School where participants learn the basics of tennis and practice three days a week for a number of weeks. The Junior Club Championship is held after the end of the Summer Camp, typically in late August. This competition allows Junior members to put into practice every skill they have learnt in the Summer Camp. Throughout the remainder of the year the club holds a series of one-day competitions, called the Four Seasons Tournaments, where Junior members can play in a "round-robin" style doubles event. This one-day competition will take no more than three hours to complete and parents are welcome.

Throughout the year all members are encouraged to organise games amongst themselves.
